Privacy Policy

Energy Intelligence ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Energy Intelligence mobile application (the "App"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information when you use our App.

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

a. Account Information

When you sign in using Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In, we receive:

  • Your name (if you choose to share it)
  • Your email address
  • A unique identifier from the authentication provider
  • Your profile image URL (Google only)

We do not receive your password from these providers.

b. Room Scan Data

When you use the App's room-scanning feature, we collect:

  • 3D models of rooms you scan (walls, floors, openings)
  • Dimensions of detected objects (appliances, furniture)
  • Categories of detected appliances (refrigerator, oven, etc.)
  • Notes you add to walls or appliances
  • Optional reference photos you attach to scans

These scans are processed both on-device and on our servers when you choose to export them to your dashboard.

c. Camera and LiDAR Sensor Data

The App uses your device's camera and LiDAR sensor to perform room scans. This data is processed on-device in real time using Apple's RoomPlan framework. Raw camera frames are not uploaded to our servers — only the resulting 3D model and detected objects.

d. Photo Library Access

If you choose to attach a photo to a room scan, we access only the specific photo you select. We do not browse or upload your entire photo library.

e. Local Network

The App may access your local network only when running in development mode to connect to local development servers. This is not used in the App Store release.

f. Technical Data

We may automatically collect:

  • Device model and operating system version
  • App version and build number
  • Crash logs and error reports (no personal content)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Authenticate your account and provide access to the App
  • Sync your room scans to your account
  • Display your scans on your Energy Intelligence dashboard
  • Improve the App's appliance-detection accuracy
  • Communicate with you about your account or significant App changes
  • Diagnose and fix bugs

3. On-Device Machine Learning

The App uses on-device machine learning models (via Apple's Core ML and Vision frameworks) to detect HVAC equipment and other appliances during scans. This processing happens entirely on your iPhone — appliance images are not transmitted to our servers for inference. Only the detection results (category, dimensions) are stored when you choose to export.

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only in the following limited cases:

a. Service Providers

  • Apple, Inc. — for Sign in with Apple authentication
  • Google LLC — for Google Sign-In authentication
  • Our hosted infrastructure providers — to store scans and account data

b. Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests from public authorities.

c. Business Transfers

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

5. Data Storage and Security

  • Authentication tokens are stored locally in your iPhone's Keychain, encrypted by iOS.
  • Room scans and account data are stored on secured servers using industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS in transit; encryption at rest).
  • We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion at any time (see Section 7).

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete your account and all associated data
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent at any time by signing out and uninstalling the App

8. Data Deletion

You can delete all locally stored data at any time from Settings > Clear All Data within the App. To delete your account and all server-stored data, email us at the address below. We will permanently delete your data within 30 days of confirming your request.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

10. International Users

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. By using the App, you consent to this transfer.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. Significant changes will also be communicated within the App.
